Confession

I’ve been doing Weight Watchers Plus since January 2011 and have lost about 15lbs. Before joining I had lost about 10lbs. I like the plan because it teaches you the importance of exercise, portion control, hydration and fresh fruits/veggies! I stuck with it for about 6 months until the beginning of the summer (June 5th). This summer was very busy and VERY HUMID making it hard to exercise both indoors and outdoors.

So, off the wagon I fell.

I’ve officially been back on the plan for about a week and I decided to weigh in yesterday morning to see how much trouble I had gotten into. Much to my surprise I had only gained 1lb since the June 5th weigh in. I’m happy that even though I didn’t exercise a ton or track food I still made smart food choices. That is exactly what Weight Watchers is about …habit changes. I feel that it will be easier to jump back into the swing of things with having only gained 1lb. Yippee….

Anyway, check out some of my pictures of meals from the past two days.

Well, good night blogland. It has been real. I’m off to bed to dream of froyo…

Teal Couch

I’m enjoying a relaxing afternoon of blogging and cleaning while Garrett is out hiking. For lunch I had some leftover sushi, Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup, and a hearty sandwich made from last night’s baguette. I capped off the meal with the cutest little Gala apple (not pictured).

I’d also like to give an apartment update. Our flat is still *under construction*.  We want to purchase things that are an investment and worth our dollar so, we are taking our time setting everything up. However, we do have some neat things to show off!

A TEAL COUCH! We bought it from Target for a decent price and I think it will serve us well. It moves into 5 different positions including a bed so…what are you waiting for? Come visit Santa Fe and sleep on our TEAL COUCH!

We were thinking of not purchasing a television but, I’m a Public Television addict and Garrett enjoys watching football in the fall so, we decided to get one. Last night we purchased a 32″ Panasonic LED TV. Its pretty nice. I was a little taken a back when I realized that  TVs were so expensive and that you can’t buy a normal set you have to buy a fancy flat screen thing. There we have it.

Garrett’s music corner. This boy loves to practice his instruments and even has own section in our apartment to work on his craft!

New comforter and lamp!

This lovely cutting board was a gift from Carol and Howard Hughes. It was a parting gift when I left Maryland. I really admire Howard’s work and love the fact that my cutting board used to be an old gym floor in New Jersey. Yes, Howard repurposed wood and made cutting boards and I was lucky enough to get one. Check out his website!

Laughing Lemon Cookies

I finished watching Season 4 of Mad Men this afternoon and then headed to Trader Joe’s to do the weekly grocery shopping. Man, that place is always packed! I must make a mental note to go later in the day next time. I got all kinds of yummy veggies, baking ingredients, and lunch supplies.

I wasn’t super hungry for dinner but I did pick up a baguette, cheese and sushi for a light dinner with Garrett.  We enjoyed ourselves!

I ❤ bread and Laughing Cow Cheese! Clearly.

We rounded off a not so well-rounded meal with TJ’s Lemon Cookies.

5 of them for 4 WWP Points. Nice!

They satisfy my sweet tooth but don’t make me want to eat the whole container. Wow, self- control in action.

Tomorrow, Garrett is planning to hike Santa Fe Baldy and I think I’m going to hike/run on some local trails that are not at 12,632ft.

Well, so long blog world. Have a great night!

Farmer’s Market and Flying Star Cafe

After a nice morning jog around the neighborhood Garrett and I headed to the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market.

The Market has its own building and enough space for over 50 vendors. It is open Tuesday nights, Thursday afternoons, and Saturday mornings. There were a ton of local farmers, bakers, artisans, and musicians.

Garrett outside the market!

Here I am at the other end of the market in the Railyard with our one purchase, a new basil plant. I’m OBSESSED with basil and will definitely dedicate an entire post to it later.

After walking around the Farmer’s Market we headed to a local joint, The Flying Star Cafe, for breakfast.  The Cafe is known for making everything from scratch using local ingredients. The atmosphere was very open and laid back but, the service was very fast. Definitely check it out if you are in the Santa Fe area!

Garrett had the Country Breakfast and I had the Southwest Bennie which consisted of 2 fried eggs on top of an English muffin and turkey sausage with chile cheese sauce and a cup of fruit on the side. It was scrumptious! I decided to save half of it for lunch.

After our breakfast we headed to REI so Garrett could look at some hiking maps and boots. The maps were a little pricey so he didn’t get one but, it was still fun to check out the outdoor equipment.

Aw, a boy and his maps!

I’m off to watch some Mad Men and eat the other half of my Bennie. Mmmm….

Enjoy your Saturday!

The Land of Enchantment

Garrett and I have been in New Mexico for about two weeks and I’m happy to say that we are falling in love with it a little more each day. The mountain views, yummy food, relaxed atmosphere, and excellent hiking have been making our world go round.

Check out some of our pictures below!

The View of Santa Fe from 9,200 ft!

7 mile roundtrip hike that led to this lovely meadow!

A waterfall in the desert? You bet!
